Sickness, Day 8
Went to sleep at 8:30 last night, woke up at a little after 7:00 this morning. Not all sleep, of course. The half dozen or so night wakings by the child plus the bathroom breaks and nose blowings make it hardly a fluid night of sleep. Still, it was a lot of shut eye, and I feel more rested. But I'll still sick, to be sure.
The thing that bugs me most about it is the light-headedness I'm getting with this one. Usually you get this on the first or second day, maybe with some mild body ache, then it moves to sore throat, nasal congestion, and so on. The congestion, sore throat, and nasal drip I can deal with in the course of my normal living. But the feeling of being over-tired and light-headed sucks. It makes doing just about anything difficult, and it hasn't much faded over the course of the week.
In short, this leaves me sitting in the living room, fairly rested, feeling like junk and not out on the trails for a second straight day. We're now on 1 ride in the past 8 days, and I don't see that changing anytime today. Chances are I'm off work tomorrow, because the bullshit stress of that job is only making this worse than it should be.
So it's been a long time since I blogged anything and here I am bitching and whining about not being able to ride my bike. So it goes. I'm glad it's winter (or not even winter yet), and I'm sure I'll get better. But we in the short-attention span culture don't like to look to tomorrow for answers. If it doesn't clear up today we get impatient. So here I am, sick and impatient.
